We hear how the Monkey Puzzle Tree got its name and that its spikey leaves may have been a deterrent to hungry dinosaurs! In the 19th century they were a huge status symbol and those in the grounds of Bicton College represent the longest avenue of Monkey Puzzles in Europe.
This is one of a series of films highlighting fascinating stories surrounding famous old trees in the beautiful East Devon countryside.
The films are available on DVD for showing at community centres.
