In a world first, one thousand ants on the National Trust’s Longshaw Estate in the Peak District have been fitted with tiny radio receivers in order for their movement through complex nest structures to be tracked. Scientists from the University of York are working alongside the National Trust in the hope that the findings will influence land management plans on the estate. And there could even be implications for our own information and telecommunication networks!.
